About Us

Citizens Advice

The Citizens Advice service is an independent network that helps people resolve their money, legal and other problems. It provides information and advice, and influences government and organisations to bring about change in policies and laws.

Advice provided by the Citizens Advice service is free, independent, confidential, and impartial, and available to everyone regardless of race, sex, disability, sexuality or nationality.

Most Citizens Advice service staff are trained volunteers, working at more than 3,200 service outlets across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

If you are interested in finding out more the Citizens Advice website has a lots of information.

Shepway CAB was established in 1976 and has been working ever since to realise these aims.

Advice

Our staff can work with you to sort out debt worries and claim all the benefits you may be entitled to. We can help with housing and employment problems, or deal with queries about consumer or tax issues. We can advise on legal matters, answer questions about immigration, and we have lots of experience on family and personal matters too. Shepway CAB acts as a one-stop-shop for advice.

Our Approach

Advice Giving

Our advisers won't tell you what to do, but will explain your options and the possible outcomes of different courses of action. You will be encouraged to make your own decisions and act on your own behalf. We will enable you to manage your own problems by focusing on your specific needs and providing you with relevant and up to date information to resovle your problems.

The Information System
Our advisers use a computer based information system (not available on the web) which is regularly updated . This helps to ensure that they provide the most up to date and accurate advice to those calling on our services
